Utility Assistance in Kankakee County

Get HELP with your energy costs from Kankakee County Community Services Inc. Through LIHEAP we are able to assist income-eligible households to pay for utilities, like heat, gas, electricity, and furnace repair assistance.

Am I Eligible?

LIHEAP is designed to help customers during the winter when utility bills are much higher than normal because of the expense to heat their home. As the administrator of the energy assistance program, we are assisting all income eligible households with their gas or propane and electric bill. The 30-day gross income guidelines are as follows:

What Do I Need?

We encourage you to come to our office to complete the application with our intake staff. If you have any special circumstances that require an exception, please contact us at 815-933-7883 option “1” during normal business hours.

  • Social Security Cards

    Social Security Cards for everyone in the household

  • Gas and/or Electric Bill

  • Proof of income for the past 30 days.

    If your household is zero-income, you will need a denial letter from unemployment and/or a food stamp print out.
